Loumarr is an Australian firm, headed by qualified electricians and project managers, with over 20 years experience. We're experts in complex multi-site rollouts and projects, with extensive experience in government energy upgrade programs. Project Experience
University LED Upgrade
Background
La Trobe University, through their Net Zero program, committed to transform their campuses and become carbon neutral by 2029. Upgrading all lighting to energy efficient LEDs is a major contributor to La Trobe achieving this goal.
The project
Loumarr were engaged by Specialist Lighting Solutions (SLS) to provide the installation and project management services in this diverse and complex multi-staged rollout. The University buildings had to remain open and functioning throughout the works, as well as navigating the developing impacts on works from COVID restrictions.
Results
Over 37,000 fittings were upgraded to over 65 buildings throughout the project. The project was completed over 2 years, which was ahead of time and under budget. Through fantastic products and design (SLS), and a great communication and trust from the client (La Trobe), the end result was a successful and safe handover of a turnkey solution to La Trobe’s Net Zero goal.
Health Facility LED Upgrade
Background
Barwon Health’s focus on environmental sustainability saw them identify massive opportunity to reduce their carbon emissions through a comprehensive multi-site LED upgrade.
In their Aged Care and Community Health facilities, Barwon Health had been progressively replacing faulty lights with LEDs – however, these sites’ lighting systems had not been upgraded across the board since they were built. Their existing lighting systems included metal halide, mercury vapour, fluorescent tubes, compact fluorescents, and halogen lights. These aging lighting systems were becoming costly to Barwon Health, contributing significantly to their electricity bills, and to their maintenance expenses. Loumarr was delighted and excited to take on this contract.
The project
This LED upgrade project spanned three different sites, totaling 12 individual buildings. 5,935 light fittings were upgraded across these sites which consisted of varying spaces including offices, clinical treatment areas, long-term patient residence rooms, workshops, storage, food prep and cafes. Loumarr was tasked with completing this upgrade with minimal intrusion and interruption to each site’s operations, and, with careful planning and excellent cooperation from Barwon Health staff, this was achieved.
Results
The upgrade was successfully completed over 4 months with detailed planning and clear communication. Hindrances like COVID-19 and other contagious outbreaks were mitigated through strict working protocols, such as contamination control, isolation, and fluid alternative works planning.
Each building’s new LED lighting system now provides reduced glare, improved colour rendering, and overall better visibility through state-of-the-art LED technology – all very important aspects for the treatment of their patients, as well as the comfort and experience for their patients.
